Psychometrics and Dynamic Analysis (PDA) Lab

In the PDA (Psychometrics and Dynamic Analysis) lab, we develop and evaluate new methodology in Psychometrics and complex dynamic systems.

The rapid developments of data collecting techniques (the internet, mobile phones, and wearable devices) make it possible to ask new research questions, for example, how the dynamic relations between diabetic patients and their spouses affect their adhering to physicians’ recommendations? How the successes and failures of patients’ adherence affect their spouses’ wellbeing on the following day?

Data collected for these research questions are complex. Skin potentials, heart rates, exercise, diet, mood, and quarterly blood tests involve multiple domains, multiple measurement types, and multiple time spans. The methodology of analyzing the data severely lags behind the techniques of collecting the data.
